Newburn House
To enable single young mums learn life skills we work with Westlea Housing Association to provide a mother and baby unit in Trowbridge. As well as providing accommodation for 4 people the project aims to equip the mums with the necessary skills prior to taking on their own tenancy.
We also provide resettlement services and have space for 4 young mums who need advice and support prior to getting a place in the house and space for 4 young mums once they have been allocated a tenancy.
The Mother & Baby Unit is a partnership project with Westlea Housing Association.
Teenage Parents
Teenage lone parents may never have lived with the father of their baby. Your relationship may have ended early in the pregnancy and you now find yourself very alone with what was initially going to be a shared responsibility.
You may have been unable to continue with your education and your own childhood.
We recognise many of the special difficulties faced by young and vulnerable lone parents, and we are here to help, encourage and provide support with:
- our home visiting support service
- advice and information with a wide range of topics
- managing a tenancy and garden
- coping with kids
- parenting skills
- managing on a low income
- menu planning, nutrition and diet
- accessing learning / education / training / voluntary work
- benefits
- sexual health and relationships
Cookery Project
We are providing a weekly cookery session for the residents to learn new skills around nutrition and feeding a young family on a limited budget.
